Very much a family centered business, owner manager Mr Alan Baldry has been a Champion Exhibitor of birds for 30 plus years until the business required his fulltime commitment. He has a wealth of knowledge and is well respected within the bird and pet industry. Alan is dedicated to promoting the welfare of animals and keeping pets which he has followed through in the development of the centre, setting high standards throughout.
Knowledge and experience is what has made the business so successful and we have regular customers from all over the country. We offer a unique service and cater for all bird keepers needs, both experienced and beginners. We supply everything needed and have one of the biggest selections of birds in the country. Mail order is available on most products. Alan’s father was also an exhibitor and bird keeper and in true tradition Alan’s son Adam is closely following in his footsteps and is a knowledgeable breeder and keeper of Parrots. Trained by the renowned College of Animal Welfare in Pet Management Adam was one of the youngest in the country to achieve his qualification. He is also very passionate about lizards.
Alan's wife Cindy also works at Mill Lane. Her role is diverse but her specialty is with the hand rearing of baby parrots. Over the years she has reared all sorts of parrots including African Greys, Amazons and Parakeets and customers refer friends and family back to the centre. A good selection of hand reared tame birds is usually available for pet lovers who want to experience their first pet bird.
All the staff at Mill Lane has either been trained to NVQ standard or are being trained - something which we believe is essential to a professional pet business.
Mill Lane Aviaries has achieved awards for Best Bird Retailer from The Cage & Aviary Birds exhibition amongst tough National competition. A real achievement as it recognises the welfare standards of the birds on sale. We strive hard to ensure the best care and feed for all our stock. Experience has proved the better quality the feed the better the result which is why we only stock the very best quality feeds such as Harrison and Verselaga. Birds of every colour, shape and size can be purchased at Mill Lane.
As we specialise in birds we stock some of the more unusual birds not found in commonly in local pet shops including top quality exhibition canaries. A good selection of hand reared tame birds is usually available for pet lovers who want to experience their first pet bird. Our huge selection of cages, aviaries, hutches and runs are always on offer at very reasonable prices. Cat runs, aviaries, hutches etc can be supplied to your exact requirements and erected if necessary. We have an enormous selection of seed including most of the specialist seeds and an increasing range of other pet products and food including dog and cat food. In addition to birds we also sell dwarf rabbits, guinea pigs and chipmunks. It's well worth a visit for any bird enthusiast or pet lover.
